Cook of Indian diplomat in Pakistan arrested for allegedly spying for ISI

New Delhi, May 24 (IBNS): In a joint operation by an Anti-Terror Squad from Uttar Pradesh, Directorate of Military Intelligence and Uttarakhand police, a resident of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, was arrested for allegedly spying on an Indian diplomat and passing on information to Pakistan's spy agency, ISI, according to media reports on Thursday.

The accused, Ramesh Singh, was a cook at the residence of a senior officer with the Indian Embassy in Pakistan and worked there between 2015 and 2017, media reported.

"The house of the officer was bugged. The officer's devices (laptop and phone) were also bugged. It seems the ISI used temporary employees at the embassy involved in cleaning operations to get in touch with Ramesh," Anand Kumar, a senior police officer, was quoted by NDTV as saying on Thursday.

The capture of a suspected terrorist from Uttar Pradesh's Faizabad earlier this month led to Singh's arrest, media reported.
