Celebrated designer Wendell Rodricks passes away
Goa/IBNS: Ace designer and gay icon Wendell Rodricks passed away in his Goa residence at the age of 59, media reports said.
Family sources have said Rodricks died of heart attack in his Colvale house in Goa, said the reports.
He was conferred Government of India's fourth-highest civilian award, the Padma Shri, in 2014.
Rodricks entered the fashion arena in the 1990s and earned accoladesfor "resort wear" and "eco-friendly" wear.
A self-made man, he used his savings to learn fashion designing in Los Angeles and Paris.
He belonged to a Goan Catholic family, and grew up in Mumbai.
