Bombay HC relieves Ashok Chavan in Adarsh scam case

Mumbai, Dec 22 (IBNS): The Bombay High Court on Friday rejected the Maharashtra Governor's sanction to prosecute former Congress Chief Minister of the state Ashok Chavan in Adarsh scam case, media reports said.

After the sanction by the Governor, Chavan had petitioned a file at the High Court. The decision can be viewed as an acquittal for Chavan.

In April 2016, Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao gave sanction to prosecute Chavan in cheating and criminal conspiracy in Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society Case.

The week continues to be fruitful for the Congress, which gave a tough fight to the BJP in Gujarat poll and also shirked off the corruption allegations in 2G scam case on Thursday.

A special court has acquitted all accused including former Telecom Minister of UPA government, A Raja and DMK leader M Kanimozhi in the spectrum case.

Earlier this week, the Congress, bagging 80 seats, could manage to restrict the BJP to just 99 in Narendra Modi-Amit Shah's home turf Gujarat.
