BJP lodges complaint against AIMIM chief

New Delhi, Jan 3 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lodged a complaint against All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi to the state election commission for breaching Supreme Court directives regarding election, reports said.

The apex court had ruled on Monday that no political party can seek votes in the name of religion, creed or caste as election is a secular experience.

Owaisi allegedly demanded that 7,700 crore be spent from the BMC budget for the betterment of Muslims.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party and the Congress said that BJP and AIMIM has entered into a secret alliance to polarise voters.

Commenting on the same, Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam was quoted as saying by The Hindu, "Commenting on AIMIM only means falling prey to the BJP’s agenda. Muslim community will not and should not vote for the party. Any vote to AIMIM means a vote to BJP or Shiv Sena. The community has and has promised to stand with us in the polls.”
