Ahmedabad/IBNS: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is marching towards a big win once again in Gujarat local polls with victory on 2,085 of 8,474 seats across  municipalities that polled on Sunday, establishing a wide gap with next in lead rival Congress.

Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) maintained its past performance, again winning 15 seats.

The saffron party continued its rise in 67 of the 81 municipalities while the Congress gained in seven and AAP was leading in one.

In district panchayats, too, BJP is leading in 31 and other parties are yet to make any gains.

It is ahead in 185 of 231 taluka panchayats where Congress is leading in 34.

AAP is ahead in some districts panchayat seats in Bhavnagar and Amreli.

Last week, BJP had registered wins in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar, grabbing 483 of 576 seats.  AAP won 27 seats, eating into Congress votes, which failed to make any gains in the town.
