Bihar elections: Nitish Kumar gets call from Amit Shah as NDA keeps lead
New Delhi/Patna/IBNS: Amid the counting of votes for the results in the Bihar Assembly elections where the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has maintained a slim lead so far, Union Home Minister Amit Shah called Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday evening.
According to media reports, Shah called Nitish Kumar to discuss the results of the Bihar polls in which the latter's party- Janata Dal (United) has received a blow.
While the NDA is leading in Bihar, Nitish Kumar's JD(U) has been reduced to number three, behind the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party of Tejashwi Yadav, the son of his arch-rival Lalu Yadav.
In fact, as per the latest trend, Tejashwi Yadav's RJD emerged as the single-largest party now with 78 seats while the BJP is leading in 72 seats and the JDU in 41.
It seems like Kumar is likely to lose the senior partner status that he enjoyed in Bihar for years, media reports said.
Even as BJP insists on Kumar remaining the Chief Minister in the event of an NDA win, the JD(U) leader's power is likely to be greatly diminished.
