Kolkata/IBNS: In another round of joinings ahead of the West Bengal assembly polls, the ruling Trinamool Congress on Friday inducted senior Bengali actors Deepankar De, Bharat Kaul at the party's headquarters here.

Another Bengali actor Lovely Maitra and classical musician Ustad Rashid Khan's daughter Shaona Khan have also joined the Trinamool in presence of senior party leader and West Bengal Minister Bratya Basu.

Joining the party, De, who had featured in legendary filmmaker late Satyajit Ray's films, said, "I have been a Trinamool supporter for a long time. Our Chief Minister has given me the Bangabhushan, Bangabibhushan honour awards. I can't be dishonest with Trinamool. Trinamool will win the upcoming elections said."

In the run up to the state elections, which are expected to be announced soon, both the Trinamool and its challenger BJP are inducting various personalities from the film and cultural fraternities.

After registering an unprecedented success in the 2019 General Elections, spirited and aggressive BJP is aiming to unseat the Trinamool while the latter's supremo Mamata Banerjee is eyeing on to become the Chief Minister for the third straight term.
