Bengal polls: 40 female candidates for phase 4

Kolkata, Apr 22 (IBNS): A total of 40 women out of 345 candidates are in the fray for West Bengal phase four election to the 49 Assembly constituencies in the two districts.
They are contesting from 26 constituencies.
 
There are 24 female candidates in North 24 Parganas and 16 in Howrah district.
 
Three female candidates are contesting from Howrah Uttar and Domjur of Howrah district. Two female candidates each are contesting from Gaighata, Swarupnagar, Ashoknagar, Naihati, Noapara, Dum Dum Uttar, Kamarhati and Deganga of North 24 Parganas district and from Bally, Howrah Dakshin of Howrah district. One female candidate each is contesting from Bagdah, Bongaon Uttar, Baduria, Dum Dum, Rajarhat- New Town, Barasat and Minakha of North 24 Parganas district and from Howrah Madhya, Panchla, Uluberia Purba, Bagnan, Shyampur and Jagatballavpur of Howrah district.
 
Of the 40 female candidates, 12 belong to BJP, 6 to AITC, 4 to BSP, 2 to CPIM, 1 to AIFB and 8 to other registered political parties.  Seven independent female candidates are also in the fray.
