Assam : Three killed as oil tanker overturns and explodes

Guwahati, Mar 29 (IBNS) : At least three people, including a woman, were killed when an oil tanker turned turtle and exploded on NH-37 near Jakhalabandha in middle Assam's Nagaon district on Wednesday morning.

According to the reports, the driver of the oil tanker, bound for Guwahati from Upper Assam, reportedly lost  control over steering and the vehicle overturned at Baghjaan.

A top police official said the tanker exploded resulting in a devastating fire which led to the death of three persons, including the driver and his associate, on the spot.

At least four houses near the highway and two  vehicles were completely gutted in the fire. A woman died after her house caught fire.

Fire  tenders and top police officials have rushed to the area and launched operation to control the fire.
