Assam: Seven people died, 20 others injured after a bus fell into a ditch

Guwahati, Oct 20 (IBNS): At least seven people died and 20 others injured in a road mishap which took place in Lower Assam’s Nalbari district on Saturday.

The incident took place at Mukalmua Adabari area at around 2:45 pm when a speedy passenger bus fell into a ditch.

Locals said the driver of the Assam State Transport Corporation bus (AS-20-1422) reportedly lost his control over the bus while crossing a bridge.

The bus was reportedly carrying at least 27 passengers while going to Sarthebari area in Lower Assam’s Barpeta district from Guwahati

Locals and police have immediately rushed to the area and started rescue operation.

A police official said that rescue teams have so far recovered seven bodies from the bus and also rescued 20 others who have been admitted to nearby hospitals.
