Guwahati: Prime Minister Nadrendra Modi on Monday promised to the people of Assam that the state's growth will become faster with the cooperation and blessings of the people of the state.

“You have now another opportunity to further strengthen the double engine of development which is now running in Assam,” Modi said.

While addressing a public rally at Silapathar in Assam’s Dhemaji district, PM Modi said that, Election Commission of India would likely to be announced the dates for the assembly polls in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry in the first week of March.

“Last time, the Election Commission of India had announced the poll dates on March 4. This time also, I see the possibility that the date of election can be announced by the Election Commission of India anytime of the first week of March. It is the duty of the Election Commission and they will do it,” Prime Minister Modi said.

“It will be my endeavor that I will try my best as soon as I can come to Assam, go to West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry  before the announcement of election dates. If we assume March 7 as the day of election dates announcement, then I will try to come to you in whatever time I get,” PM Modi said.

Prime Modi on Monday dedicated to the nation the INDMAX Unit at Indian Oil’s Bongaigaon Refinery, Oil India Limited's Secondary Tank Farm at Madhuban in Dibrugarh district and a Gas Compressor Station at Hebeda Village, Makum in Tinsukia district.

He had also inaugurated the Dhemaji Engineering College and laid the foundation stone for Sualkuchi Engineering College.

PM Modi said the whole world is recognizing India's engineers and the youth of Assam have amazing potential.

“The state government is working hard to increase this capacity. Due to the efforts of the Assam government, today there are more than 20 engineering colleges here. Our government is working on the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Viswas’, to overcome the discrimination. If the policy is right, if the intention is clear then the destiny also changes. It is necessary for India to continuously become self-sufficient, to increase its strength and also its capabilities,” Modi said.

Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Union Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma were also present in the programme.

Ahead of the assembly polls in the state, it is his third visit to the poll bound state.
