Guwahati/IBNS: Police have arrested a 41-year-old man on charges for raping his 14-year-old daughter in Assam’s capital city Guwahati.

Police said the man allegedly raped his own daughter in past two years.

A top official of Guwahati city police said the incident came to light on Oct 12 after the victim described to her aunt about the incident and lodged a complaint against the person.

“The victim was staying with her father and other relatives. The victim’s mother is in the process of seeking divorce from the man and staying separately,” the police officer said.

After receiving the complaint, Geetanagar police in Guwahati had arrested the man and registered a case under POCSO Act.

The arrested person was produced before the court and the court sent him to 14 days judicial custody.
