Assam govt to introduce new law for employees to mandatory care their parents care

Guwahati, Feb 7 (IBNS): The Assam government is all set to introduce a new law that will make mandatory for all state government employees to take care their parents.

During presentation the state budget for the financial year 2017-18 in Assam assembly on Tuesday, state Finance minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, the state government has decided to introduce a new law for their employees to take care their parents or will deduction from their salary to be contributed their parents welfare.

It is mandatory for all state government employees to take care their parents. If failing, their salary will be deducted and this will be contributed their parents welfare," Sarma said.

The Assam Finance minister also said that, the government will implement 7th Assam pay commission recommendations from Apr 1, 2016.

On the other hand, the state government has proposed to annually reimburse an state government employee upto Rs 1000 for purchasing two Khadi apparels.

In his budget speech, the Assam Finance minister said that, to help the film industry, subsidy of Rs 50 lakh for reopening of closed cinema halls in the state and Rs 25 lakh for renovation.

"The state government will provide subsidy of 25% to set up new halls in the state. We will exempt 50% entertainment tax for 3 years to multiplexes, who promise to show Assamese or regional film in one of their screens. On lines of Goa, Kolkata, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram we wish to hold an annual Film Festival in Guwahati. We also proposed to develop a park around the memorial of Khagen Mahanta, doyen of Assamese music and a cultural icon," the Assam Finance minister said.

The state government also proposed to set up 6 new planetariums at Majuli, Kaliabor, Amingaon, Bongaigaon, Diphu and Silchar.

The Assam Finance minister said that, to boost Animal Husbandary, Veterinary and Dairy sector in the state, Jorhat Agriculture University to be bifurcated and a new Veterinary and Life Sciences University to be set up in next financial year.

To help rope in Assamese diaspora in strengthening trade, business and culture, the Assam government has decided to set up a new department for Pravasi Asomiya.
