Guwahati, Sept 10 (IBNS): Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Monday took out a mammoth rally in Guwahati protesting the rising of fuel price and essential commodities.

APCC president and Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat and hundreds of party workers took part in the protest rally coinciding with the nation-wide shutdown called by the Congress party.

The protesters shouted slogans against Modi government and gheraod Assam secretariat.

Heavy security personnel were deployed in front of the secretariat.

The protesters also blockade GS road in the capital city of Assam while marching ahead preventing vehicular traffic from plying.

Later, police had arrested APCC president Ripun Bora, AICC general secretary Harish Rawat and Congress workers while they were trying to go inside the secretariat by breaking police barricades.
