New Delhi, July 24 (IBNS): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Amanatullah Khan was sent by a Delhi court to one-day police custody on Sunday.

He was produced in the court by the police.

Delhi Police sought his custody and it was granted to them by Metropolitan Magistrate Ashok Kumar.

Khan was arrested on charges of threatening a woman with rape and murder.

Following his arrest, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and posted: "Just in - Modi ji arrests one more AAP MLA."

The woman has alleged that Khan had directed a young man to threaten her with rape.

She alleged that she has been targetted for 'politicising" the issue of power cuts in the capital.

Following the arrest on Sunday, Khan's supporters gathered outside the Jamia Nagar police station to protest.

The police has said that Khan is also accused of attempting to run over the woman with his car.
