Army pays tribute to soldiers killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Nov 3 (IBNS): The Army on Friday paid tribute to two of its soldiers who were killed in a gunfight at Sambora Pampore village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Sepoy Suraj Singh Topal and Signalman Kushwah Pradip Singh Brijkishor Singh had sustained bullet injuries.

They were provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 BH but succumbed to the injuries.

In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen JS Sandhu, Corps Commander, Chinar Corps and all ranks paid homage to the deceased.

“In a show of solidarity, officials and representatives from the State Government and other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the martyrs,” the statement reads.          

Suraj Singh Topal,(25) had joined Army in 2012 and hailed from Village Falota located in Chamoli district of Uttrakhand. He is survived by his parents and two sisters.

Coming from Village Savitrinagar in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Kushwah Pradip Singh Brijkishor Singh was only 22 years and had donned the uniform in 2013. He is survived by his parents and a brother.

The mortal remains of the deceased were flown for last rites to their native places, where they would be laid to rest with full military honours.
