Accused of rape, Assam AIUDF MLA flees state to evade arrest
Guwahati, July 9 (IBNS): After being accused of raping a married woman, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA of Algapur constituency Nizam Uddin Choudhury has allegedly flown outside of Assam to evade arrest.
A close aide of the AIUDF MLA said that, Nizam Uddin Choudhury suddenly left for Chennai on Monday morning.
However, he refused to provide any more information.
Earlier on Saturday night, the police arrested the husband of the rape victim from Guwahati airport while he trying to flee Assam.
According to the reports, the AIUDF MLA had allegedly raped a married woman at Hailakandi circuit house with the help of the victim woman husband.
The victim had lodged an FIR against the accused MLA at Hailakandi Sadar police station and stated that she was allegedly raped by the MLA at Hailandi Circuit House.
She had also filed a complaint against her husband.
Based on intelligence input, the Hailakandi police and Azara police of Guwahati had jointly launched an operation at Guwahati airport on Saturday night and caught the husband of the rape victim, identified as Shahid Ahmed Laskar.
He was trying to flee to Mumbai.
Hailakandi police has taken him in their custody and interrogated him.
The victim had alleged that, her husband took her to Hailakandi Circuit House on May 19 last where the AIUDF MLA raped her.
She mentioned in the FIR that post the incident, her husband had locked her in the house.
“I want justice. I will commit suicide if don’t get justice,” the woman said.
On the other hand, the accused AIUDF MLA, Nizam Uddin Choudhury, had refuted all allegations made against him.
The AIUDF MLA said that, it is a political conspiracy made against him.
