14 Congress MLAs in Assam assembly are of Bangladeshi origin: Assam BJP leader

| @indiablooms | May 17, 2018, at 12:55 am

Guwahati, May 16 (IBNS): While the updation process of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is going on in Assam to detect illegal foreigners, a BJP leader of the Assam unit said that there are few MLAs in the Assam Legislative Assembly who are of Bangladesh origin.

BJP Minority Morcha Assam State President Mominul Awal said that there are few Bangladesh origin MLAs in Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).

When the NRC updation process is going on in the state under the Supreme Court monitoring, the Assam leader’s remarks on Congress and AIUDF has created a new controversy.

“At present 15 minority Congress MLAs in the Assam assembly and out of these 14 are from Bangladesh origin,” Awal said.

The Assam BJP leader also said that, Congress should be renamed as AIUDF (U).

He also alleged that, AIUDF is a Bangladeshi party and maximum MLAs of the party are Bangladesh origin.
