12 killed in Uttar Pradesh thunderstorm

Lucknow, May 10 (IBNS) : Twelve people were killed and as many injured  in  a dust and thunderstorm that hit  parts of western Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday evening, media reports said.

According to reports, Etawah, Mathura, Agra, Aligarh and Firozabad bore the brunt of the nature's fury and accounted for the deaths.

On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had  issued a warning of thunderstorm accompanied with squall.

The Regional Met office in Lucknow has predicted more such storms in the next 24 hours..

Wednesday's storm comes days after a dust storm, accompanied by rain, wreaked havoc across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan, killing more than 100 people.
