U.S. Consulate Kolkata organizes workshop on gender based violence

Kolkata, Feb 1 (IBNS) The U.S. Consulate Kolkata, in partnership with Seattle-based non-profit organization Geeks Without Bounds and Bangalore-based non-profit organization The Bachchao Project, organized a day-long workshop on ‎'How to run a Hackathon to Combat Gender Based Violence' here recently.

 In his opening remarks, Assistant Public Affairs Officer Greg Pardo highlighted the importance of technology to solve issues of gender-based violence. 

The workshop was conducted by Lisha Sterling, Executive Director of Geeks Without Bounds and Chinmayi SK, Founder of The Bachchao Project.

NGOs interested in working with volunteers to develop technology that meets the needs of their purpose or sector participated in the workshop.  

Some of the NGO representatives who participated are “Mentaid”, “International Justice Mission”, “Talitha Arts” and “Banglanatak dot com”. 

Technical institute students who participated in the workshop are IEM, NASSCOM, Camellia school of Engineering & Technology, Future institute of Engineering & Management among others.

The workshop intended to train people to conduct technology for good.
