Kolkata, Aug 28 (IBNS): Spectators at the Lakme Fashion Week 2019 gave a rousing welcome to model and actor Genelia Deshmukh as she returned to the ramp after a hiatus of five years, attired in a Saroj Jalan created bright red hand-embroidered lehenga and choli, which she later teamed with a contemporary jacket.

The attire was part of Kolkata-based fashion designer Saroj Jalan's Autumn Winter 2019 collection titled 'Banji', which she showcased at the recently concluded event in Mumbai.

The collection focused on bridal couture collection for today’s modern, free- spirited yet rooted Indian brides.

It combined simplicity with quality; the timeless volumes are updated with contemporary high- quality materials and finishes.

The tailored silhouettes played on fitted versus flavored volumes and fabrics giving a sharp and sculpted look.

The collection consists of an array of rich fabrics brought to life using crafts and embroideries from various parts of India.

The designer used stones, beads in her work to form layouts that challenge the idea of textiles being curated.

The line incorporated fluid paneled skirts, embroidered coats, with multi- material and paneled belts, corseted blouses, anarkalis, sarees, among other things.

Said Saroj Jalan, “Our collection Banji is a very special collection as it is designed for the women of today who feel and believe that life is a fashion show and the world is our runway and so it’s time to put the best foot forward. The collection is very detailed designed and it is a celebration of couture heritage, colours and the glamour of India in our style.”

And those who missed the Mumbai event will have a chance to take a look at the Banji collection at the Wedding Diaries to be held in Kolkata on August 31 and September 1.

The Banji collection will also be available in Kolkata and Hyderabad at Saroj Jalan flagship stores.
