Samsung closes in on Nvidia’s AI goldmine as HBM4 certification nears

| @indiablooms | Jan 26, 2026, at 12:50 pm

Samsung Electronics Co. has moved closer to securing certification from Nvidia Corp. for the latest version of its AI memory chip, HBM4, Mint reported.

Samsung is gearing up for mass production of HBM4 in February and is expected to be ready to ship the chips shortly, the report added.

The certification would help Samsung narrow the gap with rival SK Hynix Inc., the South Korean memory maker that has already entered the final qualification phase with Nvidia.

Samsung’s shares rose nearly 3.2% in Seoul on Monday, while SK Hynix slid by a similar margin.

High-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips are critical components for powering advanced AI accelerators used in data centres and large language models.
SK Hynix currently dominates Nvidia’s HBM supply chain, giving it a lead in the fast-growing AI semiconductor market.
