Bangalore, Aug 27 (IBNS): Hotel aggregator Oyo Rooms' new plan of allowing unmarried couples book rooms sparked an outrage on the social media.

In a bid to attract the younger people, who is yet to tie the knot but is looking for some special time with the partner, Oyo introduced their new feature, that now enables them to book rooms.

The move has been seen by many as derogatory and pervasive.

Netizens have hailed it as a 'sin', a service designed to pave the downfall of Indian culture.

Reacting to the development, Naveed Khan, a Chennai based individual said, "Good move, it will reduce Ra&e {rape} and Ince&st {incest} in the society and encourage promiscuity and Extra martial Relationship." sic

If Naveed's sarcastic dig is difficult to comprehend for some, Geeta, a resident of Bangalore puts it in black and white.

"Good now police will make more money by harassing in name of prostitution :(," she posted in reaction to this news.

However, defending their move, a top official from the company said, "A substantial number of our customers are in the age group of 18-30 years and this category could be served best with such initiatives. We are not catering to a niche audience, neither is this a gimmicky marketing tactic. As a customer-focused business, we are identifying and solving problems that can impact the stay-experience. With this launch, we are making sure couples can identify and check-in to their OYO without any hassle."

The official added that almost 100 cities out of their existing 200, allows this facility.

The facility can be availed at all metro cities and major holiday destinations, the official added.
