Over 200 women to participate in All Ladies Car Rally in Kolkata to celebrate International Women's Day

Kolkata/IBNS: More than 200 women from various clubs in the city will join on Saturday afternoon the All Ladies Car Rally known as  “Aparajita”  being organized by the Ladies Circle of Dakshin Kolikata Sangsad (DKS) to celebrate the International Women's Day on March 8.

Briefing media persons here on Friday, mentor of the Ladies Circle Debjani Chatterjee said this event is being held specifically to celebrate the international Women's Day  keeping with this year's theme “ Accelerate Action”.  

“Our aim is to empower and encourage women motorists regarding the effectiveness of optimal acceleration and safety while  maintaining traffic rules and regulations,” she said.

Speaking on the occasion, Ladies Circle Convenor Anusri Seth said  the idea of organising this event  is also to create a culture of unbiased equal opportunity, embracing gender equality and building  fellow feeling  among communities and families.

Representative of Federation of Motor Sports Club of India and Ladies Circle member Debarati Chanda, sharing the details of the rally, informed that as many as  50 motor cars, each having a driver, a navigator and co-passengers, will join the event  which would begin from DKS and cover a distance of 35-km route in and around Kolkata.

 While the winners in different categories  will get handsome trophies, all the participants will receive certificates. For  this special  Women`s Day activity, DKS has made entry free for all the participants, Chanda added.
