Electronics major LG Electronics has announced a collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to transform its televisions into digital art displays, allowing users to showcase works from the museum's collection at home.

As part of the collaboration, LG Gallery+ will introduce more than 100 artworks from The Met's collection, including Paul Cézanne's 1890 oil painting Still Life with Apples and a Pot of Primroses, Utagawa Hiroshige's 1849-49 woodblock print Seki, and Winslow Homer's 1895 painting Northeaster, the company said in a statement.

Inspired by LG's "Life's Good" tagline, the selection includes both well-known and lesser-known works representing themes associated with everyday life. These include William Merritt Chase's 1892 painting At the Seaside and Édouard Manet's 1874 work The Monet Family in Their Garden at Argenteuil.

The activation will allow users to select their preferred artworks and display them on their LG televisions, offering another way to explore highlights from The Met's collection, which spans around 5,000 years of art from across the world.

LG Gallery+ transforms compatible LG TVs into personalised digital art showcases. Powered by the company's webOS platform, the service provides access to more than 5,000 artworks, including works by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet and Georges Seurat, alongside contemporary and digital-first creations.

"Through the Gallery+ platform, users are invited to select their favourite Met artworks to display on rotation, creating thematic presentations that reflect their personal style, mood and love of art," said Josh Romm, head of global licensing and partnerships at The Met.

"Aligning with The Met mission to share our vast collection with the world, this program provides consumers the opportunity to discover and explore a world of art from the comfort of home," he added.

Chris Jo, head of the webOS Platform Business Center at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, said the collaboration would expand the content available through LG Gallery+ and give users an opportunity to experience artworks from The Met at home.

"We are proud to collaborate with one of the most famous museums in the world, The Met, to enhance the offerings available on LG Gallery+," Jo said.

LG's Art TV lineup combines minimalist design with advanced display technologies, aiming to integrate televisions more seamlessly into living spaces. The company said technologies including Hyper Radiant Color Technology, Perfect Black, Perfect Color and Reflection Free Premium are designed to deliver colour, depth and clarity under different lighting conditions.

The lineup includes the LG OLED evo W6 Wallpaper TV, designed for minimal visual distraction; the LG OLED evo G6, featuring a flush-fit Gallery design; and the LG Gallery TV, designed to resemble a gallery piece with interchangeable magnetic frames and a gallery-style presentation.
