Mumbai, Sep 19 (IBNS): Young designers, part of Lakme Fashion Week's Gen Next platform, who participated in the latest LFW Winter/Festive 2019 show, recently displayed their collections at multi-designer stores in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi.

The programme, called Gen Next on the Road, provides an opportunity to the young designers to acquaint potential buyers with their designer abilities.

The three-city tour commenced at Fuel in Mumbai in August, followed by Anahita in Hyderabad and Ensemble in Delhi in September 2019.

These stores had dedicated sections by the Gen Next batch consisting of Amaaré by Sahib Bhatia, Anatomy by Gaurav, Little Things Studio by Ankita Srivastava, Zilzom by Stanzin Palmo, Ura Maku by Manjushree Saikia and Noié Noéi by Akanksha Aggarwal.

Sahib Bhatia’s Amaaré’s collection Rule Breaker was inspired by aboriginal Australian art and different architectural forms and the silhouettes were sleek and structured.

Fabric texturing techniques like pleating, tucks and embroideries were used in the collection.

Kadali-Patram by Gaurav’s Anatomy was inspired by the sacred evergreen - banana leaf.

His collection reflected banana leaves in a way of innovative tailoring, dynamic curves and unexpected drapes.

Little Things Studio’s Not So Perfect was for the diverse women.

The collection was made of Cupro, a vegan silk, handloom Mashru, Modal silk and Chanderi.

Stanzin Palmo’s Zilzom’s collection Between the Earth and Sky paid homage to flora, fauna and nature of Ladakh.

The inspiration for the silhouettes came from Goncha, the traditional Ladakhi dress.

Her collection was made with a blend of Pashmina, silk, rayon and brocade.

Ura Maku’s Dawn to Reality explored timeless silhouettes and impression of handmade textiles by honouring efforts made by the artisans.

Noié Noéi’s collection comprised silhouettes with bold shoulders and hem lines.

The garments reflected a moderate femininity with its own identity.

Earlier editions of LFW's Gen Next programme has given the industry some of the biggest names in fashion like Rahul Mishra, Masaba Gupta, amd Aneeth Arora.

Every season, the Gen Next designer selection is done by the LFW Advisory Board after which each handpicked Gen Next designer goes through a two-month training programme with the LFW Gen Next designer programme mentor, Sabina Chopra.

Jaspreet Chandok, Vice President and Head of Fashion, IMG Reliance said, “Gen Next on the Road is a program developed to help young designers understand the demand for their designs in diverse markets, and get a first-hand experience of understanding the commercial side of the business, thereby prepping them for the future. We thank the multi designer stores for partnering with us in the initiative.”
