An Indian techie, who recently got promoted, was laid off by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk's Tesla after she served the company for seven years.

Jatin Saini, an employee at the advertising agency House of Creators, shared the story of her sister on Linkedin.

Jatin Saini wrote: "My sister had been with Tesla for 7 years. She got laid-off last Friday."

He said her sister was promoted recently and was celebrating her achievement and getting ready to shift from New Jersey to Washington DC.

"Back home, we all were so happy for her," Saini wrote.

"But then, on 3rd May 2024, she tried to enter the office and her card was deactivated," he said.

He said her sister was not alone since the company removed 16,000 employees on April 15.

"Then 15 days later, they laid-off another 500 employees. 2 days ago, she also got the email along with 75% of her team," he wrote on Linkedln.

Saini questioned in his post the lack of transparency, empathy and consideration throughout the process.

"Here is what I feel… When it comes to layoffs, the principle of 'cutting once and cutting deep' makes more sense than a series of smaller layoffs. But, to cut them off like this? Without any transparency and empathy? Without sensitivity and consideration for the employees affected?
She’s gave Tesla 7 years and now it’s all zero," he wrote.

The world of technology has been witnessing a reports of several companies laying off their employees since the beginning of 2024.

According to layoffs.fyi,  80,628 employees have been removed by 281 tech firms in 2024.
