Google pays homage to Ferdinand Monoyer on his birth anniversary
Mountain View, May 9 (IBNS): Google on Tuesday paid homage to French ophthalmologist Ferdinand Monoyer with a doodle, on the latter's 181st birth anniversary.
Monoyer is known for the introduction of dioptre, which is a unit of measurement of the optical power of a lens or curved mirror, which is equal to the reciprocal of the focal length measured in metres (that is, 1/metres).
He is also credited with the invention of Monoyer chart, used to test visual acuity.
The doodle features animated eyes and the acuity chart.
