Kolkata, May 9 (IBNS): Bengali New Year 1424 was celebrated in the most authentic and traditional style at the heritage Laha Rajbati in Kolkata, more popularly the Pasteur Laboratories house.

Inspired and conceived by the dynamic District Governor Shyamashree Sen and supported by 22 Rotary Clubs of the District, the evening marked an assembly of celebrated faces of Bengal as Retd. Justice Chittatosh Mukherjee, Singers Pratul Mukherjee, Saikat Mitra, Sayoni Palit and Paroma Dasgupta, Film Directors Sudeshna Roy and Riingo Arnab Banerjee, Actors Rana Mitra and Aryyan Bhowmick, Theatre actors Phalguni Chatterjee and Rumki Chatterjee, Physician Dr Arnab Gupta, Rotarian Gopinath Ghosh alongwith DG Shyamashree Sen.

The program was anchored by Prabal Mullick and Rotarian Debasish Banerjee.

The presence of Rotaractors from Mumbai was another highlight of the evening.

The evening also marked the first glimpse of an upcoming movie Messi based on street football of North Calcutta.

The follow up of a Kal Baisakhi (Nor'wester) and rains were like blessings for the  assembly and marked a beautiful evening of debate ( Bengali style Torko), music, poetry and adda rarely seen in a serious service organization as Rotary.
