West Bengal's COVID-19 cases breach 20,000-mark, 18 deaths in last 24 hrs

Kolkata/IBNS: Setting a new record of the single-day spike of coronavirus cases, West Bengal on Friday registered 669 fresh infections taking the eastern state's tally to 20,488 including 717 total fatalities.

The state recorded 18 new deaths on Friday and the present number of active cases are as high as 6,200, according to the state's health bulletin.

The total number of COVID-19 patients released from the hospitals include 13,571, taking the discharge rate to 66.23 pct.

The bulletin stated that West Bengal had tested 5,19,054 samples till date across 51 laboratories in the state.

A total of 11,053 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

Presently, 6,287 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 3,21,394 people are under home surveillance in the state.
