Agartala/UNI: The Covid-19 positive cases in Tripura rose to 173 with the detection of four civilians and two BSF jawans of 86th battalion in last two days.

Covid infection among civilians spread fear though positive incidence among BSF was usual due to largescale infection among the jawans.

The health officials said, all four civilian positive had returned from Chennai and they were asymptomatic at the time of their arrival on May 19 last. However, as standard norm, sample of every fifth passenger among the returnees was collected and after testing a total of 850 samples four were found positive.

“They were brought under treatment and all other in their contacts in the train and families have been asked to follow a strict procedure of quarantine. And, all of their samples have been collected for testing,” said health officials here adding that as per the decision, all the outside asymptomatic returnees have been sending for home quarantine and symptomatic passengers were taken to facility quarantine until they become negative. However, the sample of all returnees coming from hotspots has been tested.

The government spokesperson and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said with the beginning of fourth phase lockdown, Tripura government has started running trains from different destinations to evacuate over 30,000 stranded people and six trains have already come and more will be coming with the stranded people soon. So, there might be some positive cases but the system has been evolved to handle them.

“We are very much careful about the spread of Covid infection and government has constituted Covid situation monitoring committee upto block-level including local MLAs, field level officials and opinion leaders of the society to treat the patient and to prevent any spread at community level also, a series of steps have been taken to normalize life,” Nath added.

The rate of Covid-19 positive case in Tripura has now stood only 0.33 per cent while the recovery rate stands at 68.63 per cent which is highest in the country, the minister claimed to add that the state was also holding a good position in sample testing in terms of population.
