Mumbai/IBNS: India, the worst Covid-19-affected Asian country, on Thursday added over 78,000 new infections taking the overall tally to cross 68-lakh mark.

The country of 1.3 billion people reported 78,524 Covid-19 cases and 971 deaths apparently due to the virus in 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Over 11 lakh samples were tested in the last one day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday once again gave a call to take precautions like wearing masks and maintaining Covid-19 protocols to defeat the contagion.

Modi tweeted, "Let us Unite to fight Corona! Let us always remember: Wear a mask. Wash hands. Follow social distancing. Practice ‘Do Gaj Ki Doori.’ Together, we will succeed. Together, we will win against COVID-19."
