COVID-19: West Bengal sees biggest one-day jump of 3080 cases, reports 45 more deaths

Kolkata/IBNS: With highest-ever single-day spike of 3,080 cases, West Bengal's Covid-19 tally on Monday reached 1,19,578, including 27,402 active ones, 2473 deaths and 89,703 discharges, reports said.

According to a bulletin issued by Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the past 24 hours, 45 more coronavirus related fatalities were reported while 2932 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 75.02 per cent from 74.48 per cent.

State Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha said of the total active cases, 5,137 Covid-19 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and remaining 22,000 patients were either in-home isolation or in government-run safe homes.

"Out of the hospitalized 5137 Covid patients, 1817 are in serious condition, 997 are moderate and 2363 are mild symptomatic," Rajiva Sinha said on Monday evening.

Officials said that West Bengal had tested 13,47,091 samples till date with 32,319 tests conducted in 67 testing facilities across the state in the past 24 hours.

Presently, 2,665 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 41,937 people are under home surveillance in the state while 1,963 persons are in 200 government-run safe homes.

Meanwhile, the state health department on Monday launched Covid Patient Management System where families of hospitalized Covid-19 patients can get regular updates of their health conditions.
