COVID-19 death toll crosses 148 in Delhi: Jain

New Delhi/UNI: The death toll due to Novel Coronavirus reached 148 in the national capital on Sunday, while the total active cases stood at 5405, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain revealed.

According to Mr Jain, 'A total of 9755 cases have been reported so far in Delhi, in which 422 cases were added on May 16. A total of 4202 people have recovered so far, including 276 on May 16.

'We have directed all the hospitals to submit the death summary records and we are compiling them. We are hopeful that within two or three days, every report will be compiled.

'The Delhi government has also asked the police to act carefully on the issues related to migrant labourers. The Delhi government is ensuring food, stay and travel of all migrant labourers stranded in Delhi,' the Minister said in a statement here.

'Right now, the doubling rate of COVID-19 in Delhi is 11 days. The containment zones in Delhi are not increasing, but there are many new cases of the doctors, nurses, police and BSF jawans,' Jain said further.

'The Delhi government has sent the proposals to the Central government for the lockdown 4.0. The Delhi government will follow the orders of the Central government on the matters of lockdown,' he added.
