Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal's first Krutrim AI chips to be ready by 2026
Bengaluru: Krutrim, an AI startup founded by Ola Cabs co-founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal last December, announced on Thursday that it plans to design, develop, and launch its first AI chip by 2026, media reports said.
The upcoming chip families are named "Bodhi" for AI, "Sarv" for general computing, and "Ojas" for edge computing.
Krutrim revealed plans to introduce Bodhi-II by 2028. To support these developments, the company has formed strategic partnerships with global chip manufacturers Arm and Unteher AI, reported Business Standard.
According to the report, addressing Ola Sankalp 2024, Aggarwal said: “India has a unique opportunity to become a global superpower in technologies of the future such as AI. India being the source for 20 per cent of the world’s data and home to one of the largest tech talent pools, is fully equipped to lead the AI wave.”
The company further announced plans to boost Krutrim's data center capacity to 1 GW by 2028, up from the current 20 MW.
Earlier this year, Aggarwal transitioned Ola's workloads from Microsoft Azure to Krutrim Cloud.
At today's event, he revealed that more than 50 new services have been launched on Krutrim AI, making it suitable for most applications needed by Indian developers.
Krutrim Cloud is also set to expand its offerings to include infrastructure services, developer platforms, data platforms, AI models, AI platforms, and AI applications.
Aggarwal mentioned that Ola Electric and Ola Cabs are already leveraging Krutrim AI.
He also highlighted Krutrim's growing adoption among Indian developers, noting that over 25,000 developers have used Krutrim Cloud, and the Krutrim chat app has attracted over 10 million users. Since its early 2024 launch, Krutrim products have processed 250 billion API calls and generated over 1 trillion tokens in just the past six months.
Additionally, the company announced that Rs 100 crore worth of cloud services will be offered free until Diwali.
“Our ambition with this company is to truly make consumption accessible to every Indian, and this is going beyond mobility,” said Aggarwal.
To begin with Ola Cabs relaunched its Ola Share feature for its ride hailing services. This will be available in Bengaluru starting today and will be taken to other cities as well.

Addressing the growing demand for rapid commerce, Aggarwal emphasized that automation is key to achieving scalability. He further announced the launch of an automated warehouse that will be available for brands on the ONDC platform.
