West Bengal: Ban on incoming flights from six cities extended till Jul 31
Kolkata/UNI: The current ban on incoming flights from six busy cities across India, including Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, will continue as the West Bengal Government extended the restriction up to Jul 31.
The ban on incoming flights, besides the above three cities, Pune, Nagpur and Ahmedabad, have been extended until this month after State Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha asked the Ministry of Civil Aviation to suspend such incoming flights in view of the alarming Covid situation.
Sinha in a letter to Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, P S Kharola requested on Jul 17 that, "In view of the current situation it is again requested that no flight from (six cities) be scheduled for Kolkata up to July 31,2020. "
The incoming flights from these cities have been suspended from Jul 9 onwards.
Accordingly the city airport of NSCBI tweeted, "The restriction on arriving flights to Kolkata Airport from 6 cities viz Delhi, Mumbai,Pune, Chennai, Nagpur & Ahmedabad have been extended up to 31st July. "
The airport also stated that "safety protocols are being taken good care of. Safety is not just visible at the airport premises in letter but it can be felt everywhere in spirit too."
