What happened?

An undated video has gone viral showing a woman tourist confronting security personnel at the Minimarg checkpoint in Kargil, Ladakh, after tourists were reportedly stopped for several hours due to a temporary road restriction.

The restriction was reportedly linked to the movement of senior defence officials after bad weather forced a change in their travel plans.

In the video, the woman is seen arguing with security personnel and urging other tourists to join her in protesting the delay.

She says, "We are Gen Z and we won't tolerate this nonsense," while questioning why tourists were being stopped.

She also reportedly argued that tourists pay taxes and should not have to face such restrictions.

  Video triggers social media reaction

The clip triggered strong reactions on social media, with several users criticising what they described as an entitled approach towards security personnel.

Former Army officers also criticised the woman's remarks and stressed the importance of following security protocols in sensitive border areas.

What did Omar Abdullah say?

Reacting to the controversy, Omar Abdullah compared the phrase "We are Gen Z" to the old entitlement line "Jaante nahin ho mera baap kaun hai?"

The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister warned that using generational identity as a threat could undermine the goodwill associated with Gen Z.

Abdullah posted on X, "This 'we are Gen Z' has become the new 'jaantay nahin ho mera baap kaun hai'. The quickest way to erode any Gen Z goodwill is to start using it as a threat at the slightest perceived affront."

The video is reportedly old and was recorded in July 2026, but resurfaced and went viral on social media in August.
