CNG cylinder explodes at Delhi fuel station, 3 workers killed, 3 injured

Three people were killed and three others injured after a CNG cylinder of a truck exploded at a fuel station in Delhi on Wednesday afternoon, triggering panic in the area.

The blast occurred near Tikri Kalan Metro Station while the truck's CNG cylinder was being filled. All three people killed in the incident were workers at the CNG station.

Three workers killed in blast

One of the deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Manish, a resident of Baba Haridas Colony in West Delhi.

The other two victims were identified as 34-year-old Brahmjeet and 30-year-old Sunny, both residents of Nizampur.

According to police, Manish was filling the truck's CNG cylinder when the explosion occurred. He was critically injured and later died while undergoing treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

Sunny was also taken to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, while the third victim was admitted to Jeevan Jyoti Hospital. Both later succumbed to their injuries.

Two injured in serious condition

The three injured victims have been identified as Surjeet, Sanjay and Vipin.

According to DCP Outer Delhi, two of the injured are in serious condition and have been admitted to CD Global Hospital in Mundka. Vipin suffered minor injuries and left the scene.

A fire service official said the six people who were in the vicinity of the blast and sustained injuries were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Truck, car and two-wheeler damaged

The powerful explosion damaged the truck involved in the incident as well as a car and a two-wheeler parked nearby.

The blast also prompted a major emergency response, with police and fire personnel rushing to the site.

Teams led by the DCP Outer District, ACP and SHO of Mundka police station reached the location soon after the incident.

Six fire tenders rushed to spot

The Delhi Fire Service received a call about the explosion at around 3:37 pm. Six fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the fuel station.

Fire personnel carried out precautionary measures at the site and brought the situation under control.

The explosion caused panic among people in the area, officials said.

Cause of explosion under investigation

The exact cause of the CNG cylinder explosion has not yet been established.

Police and other authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the blast, including how the cylinder exploded while the truck was being refuelled.

Further details about the condition of those hospitalised are awaited. Police said necessary legal action is being taken as the investigation continues.
