Canada shocker: Indian-origin man arrested for 'groping' female at park
A 40-year-old Indian-origin man has been arrested in Canada for allegedly sexually assaulting a female youth at a park in Surrey, British Columbia, police said.
The accused, identified as Jagendar Kurana, was arrested on August 12, three days after the alleged incident at Bear Creek Park.
According to the Surrey Police Service (SPS), frontline officers responded to a report of a sexual assault at the park on August 9. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim, who alleged that she had been groped by an adult male.
The suspect fled the scene following the alleged assault, police said.
SPS later issued a public appeal seeking information about the suspect and released photographs of him. Kurana was subsequently arrested on August 12.
"On August 13, 2026, the BC Prosecution Service approved two Criminal Code charges, one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference, against Jagendar Kurana, a 40-year-old male," police said in a statement.
Kurana is currently awaiting a bail hearing.
