Uttar Pradesh: Wanted criminal arrested after encounter in Saharanpur

Saharanpur, Mar 30 (UNI) A notorious criminal carrying reward of Rs 25,000 on his head was arrested after encounter with police in Sadar Kotwali area, police said here on Saturday.

Superintendent of police (SP) Vineet Bhatnagar here said acting on tip-off police team intercepted two motorbike-borne suspects near Mavikalan village but he opened fire on police. In retaliatory firing one criminal was injured while his accomplice managed to flee, he added.

Injured criminal was identified as Rohit alias Kaku resident of Ludhiyana district of Punjab. Several criminal cases were registered against him and reward of Rs 25,000 was announced on his arrest.
