Telangana: In big relief for state employees, Revanth Reddy govt lifts 6-year ban on general transfers

Hyderabad/IBNS: In a huge relief to the state government employees, Telangana lifted the 6-year-ban on general transfers on Wednesday, media reports said.

The lifting of the ban, which was imposed by the previous BRS government in 2018, will facilitate about 3 lakh government employees and 1.5 lakh government school teachers.

The transfer will be allowed from July 1 to July 20. The ban will be reimposed again on July 21.

The government has, however, put some conditions for the transfer.

No employee will be transferred within completion of 2 years in service at a particular station as of June 30, 2024. The condition exempts employees who seek transfers for spouses.

No employee will be able to continue working at the same station beyond 4 years except the ones who are retiring before June 30, 2025.

The retirement-bound employees, however, will be transferred only if they seek.

Maximum 40 percent of the total employees in any cadre will be eligible for transfer to avoid dislocation of work.

To maintain transparency in the whole process, the competent authority will publish the list of employees currently working, all vacancies and the employees who are to be transferred mandatorily.
