A 54-year-old woman was killed allegedly by her son over a petty issue in Obra area of Sonbhadra district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said on Monday.

Circle Officer (CO) Obra said that Pachon Devi, a resident of Palamu district in Jharkhand, lived near Bilsi railway station with her 32-year-old son Khedu Bhuiyan.

"On Sunday night Khedu, who was in an inebriated state, had an argument with Pachon over some issue. During this Khedu slammed Pacho's head against a stone, killing her on the spot," she said.

She said that the accused escaped from the spot after the incident. "A case has been lodged against Khedu and the spot was inspected by the forensic team.

The accused will be arrested soon," he said.
