Bengaluru/IBNS: A Bengaluru court has granted bail to Congress top leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with a defamation case filed against him by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Keshav Prasad.

Prasad had filed the case alleging publication of defamatory advertisements published by the Congress in mainstream newspapers.

The advertisements, which were reportedly published ahead of the assembly elections in 2023, had accused the then BJP government of being involved in corruption.

On June 1, the city civil court had granted bail to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in connection with the case.

The judge has then ordered Rahul Gandhi to appear before the court on June 7.
