Nawaz Sharif visits blast-hit Quetta

Quetta, Aug 8 (IBNS): Hours after a blast rocked a hospital in Pakistan's Quetta area which left at least 70 people dead, country's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited the provincial capital of Balochistan to monitor the situation.

"Along with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, the prime minister visited the Civil Hospital and inquired about the health of the wounded," Geo News reported.

The blast occurred at a time when Balochistan Bar Association President Bilal Kasi's body was brought to the hospital.

He was earlier in the day shot by attackers.

Police was quoted as saying by Geo News that unknown men opened fire after the blast.

According to reports, the blast occurred close to the emergency department of the hospital.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
