Monsoon arrives in Kerala and NorthEast early and simultaneously

Thiruvananthapuram/IBNS: In quite a rare occasion, monsoon has arrived in Kerala and the northeastern states of India earlier than expected time as well as simultaneously, media reports said.

In general, monsoon enters Kerala on June 1 and enters the NorthEast a couple of days later.

For a change, in 2023, monsoon arrived in Kerala on May 8.

According to ANI, it has already started raining in the Kottayam district of Kerala.

As per reports, the Cyclone Remal, which formed over the Bay of Bengal last week, is the cause of the early onset of summer in Kerala and NorthEast.

"SouthWest monsoon has set in over Kerala and advanced into most parts of NorthEast India today," IMD's senior scientist R K Jenamani said as quoted by The Times of India.
