'Modi Ki Guarantee': Bhutan PM thanks 'brother' PM Modi for visiting despite bad weather and busy schedule

Thimphu: Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay expressed his gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday for visiting the Himalayan nation despite challenging weather conditions and his hectic schedule ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Tobgay took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to describe PM Modi's visit to Bhutan as an example of the "Modi Ki Guarantee" phenomenon.

"A big thank you to my brother, PM @narendramodi Ji, for visiting us. Neither his busy schedule nor inclement weather could prevent him from fulfilling his promise to visit us. This must be the #ModiKaGuarantee phenomenon," Tobgay posted on X.

"Modi ki Guarantee" is one of the BJP's most popular election slogans, symbolizing the current government's promise to ensure the welfare of every citizen of India.

During his visit, the Prime Minister was honoured with Bhutan's highest civilian award, the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, by King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck at a ceremony in Thimphu.

PM Modi received this award in recognition of "his exceptional contribution to the advancement of India-Bhutan relations and for his dedicated service to the Bhutanese nation and its people."

PM Modi's trip to Bhutan was in accordance with the Indian government's focus on its 'Neighbourhood First Policy'.

Throughout his visit, PM Modi reiterated New Delhi's commitment to supporting Bhutan's development endeavours and pledged to allocate Rs 10,000 crore for Bhutan's 13th five-year plan.

This was PM Modi's second meeting with his Bhutanese counterpart in a month, following their earlier meeting in New Delhi earlier this month.
