Lok Sabha poll results: INDIA shines in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra giving jolt to NDA

| @indiablooms | Jun 04, 2024, at 09:26 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: In a scenario quite contrary to what was predicted in exit polls, INDIA- the anti-BJP front- has taken a lead over the ruling NDA alliance in two key states, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh that yield two highest numbers of Lok Sabha seats.

In Uttar Pradesh, INDIA is leading 42 (SP in 35 and Congress in 7) out of 80 Lok Sabha seats while NDA is leading in 37 seats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading from Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, the constituency from where he won even in the last two General Elections.

Congress top leader Rahul Gandhi is leading from family bastion Rae Bareli.

Union Minister Smriti Irani is trailing in Amethi, where she defeated Rahul in 2019.

In Maharashtra, INDIA alliance is leading in 29 out of 48 seats while the NDA is ahead in 18 seats.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar addressed a press conference and said INDIA bloc leaders will meet on Wednesday.
