Keep six feet distance, wear mask if you respect Ram: Modi concludes Ayodhya speech with corona message

Ayodhya/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday ended his Bhoomi Pujan (ground breaking) ceremony speech of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi (building of a Ram temple)  in Ayodhya with a message for all Indians to wear mask and maintain social distance by following the discipline and modesty of Lord Ram in the time of coronavirus. 

"Do gaj ki doori, mask hai zaroori (keep a distance of two gaj- which is like six feet- and wear mask).. it is all the more important today amid coronavirus to follow the  maryada practised by Ram," he said referring to discipline, modesty and righteousness associated with Ram, who is considered the  7th avatar of the God Vishnu. 

In a speech where he highlighted the emergence of a new modern India following the ideals of Lord Ram, Modi said the Hindu icon belonged to everyone and every Indian irrespective of religion. 

"Ram sabka hai [Ram belongs to everyone]," he said referring each Indian states and beyond borders and how Ram is worshipped or looked up to by different religions. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the Ram temple amid chanting of hymns here.

The foundation stone was laid exactly at 1244 hrs with slogans of ' Jai Shree Ram' and ' Bharat Mata Ki Jai' filling the air. A 40 kilograms sliver brick with details of the Ram temple movement inscribed on it was laid first.

The 'bhoomi pujan' ceremony was attended by select people which included UP Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat besides Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Thirath Khetra Trust members.

The priests also narrated in detail the importance of the Ram temple, Ram rajya and how a 500-year-old dream was fulfilled.

They said that at the Bhoomi pujan site, nine bricks have been laid though there are 2.75 lakh bricks donated by the Ram Bhakts during Shilanayas in 1989. Of these, 100 bricks to be used for the construction has "Jai Shree Ram" inscribed on it.
