Kangra road accident leaves 21 pilgrims dead

Twenty-one pilgrims from Farrukkabad in UP were injured when their bus dashed against a hillock near Sammela Tunnel in the outskirts of Kangra town in Himachal Pradesh on Friday.

The pilgrims were on their way from Bajjreshwari Temple to Jwalamukhi temple in Kangra district when the accident happened. 

Kangra District Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri told UNI that the bus carrying 52 devotees onboard overturned near Kangra tunnel.

Twenty-one passengers got injured and were rushed to Dr. RPGMC Tanda for treatment.

Milap Chand Sharma, Principal, DRPG Medical College, Tanda, saidt all the injured pilgrims were out of danger.

The bus has been seized..

Sub Divisional Police Officer Kangra Ankit Sharma said the mishap happened reportedly following a brake failure failure. He said police are investigating the cause of the accident.
