J&K: No congregation on martyrs day of Hazrat Ali
Srinagar/UNI: No congregation or night-long majlis were organised on the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali, son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad in the Kashmir valley due Covid-infused lockdown.
All congregations were cancelled in shia dominated areas in the down town, civil lines and central Kashmir district of Badgam besides other areas in the valley.
On this day, thousands of members of the shia community attend night-long prayers in Imambaras and other religious places across the Kashmir valley.
Later during the day, people attend big majlis and other congregations to highlight the teachings of Hazrat Ali.
However this time, the Imambaras and other religious places remained deserted due to lockdown.
Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association and other senior leaders of the community had decided not to organize any majlis this time due to covid pandemic. They had asked people not to visit Imambaras and other areas and hold prayers in their respective homes.
No Friday prayers were organized in any mosque, including historic Jamia Masjid, on the third week of holy month of Ramadhan.
Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam has already urged people to offer Taraweeh and Shab-e-Qadar prayers in their homes to avoid spread of coronavirus.
